The Recovery Studio is a place to learn powerful and transformative self-care practices. Self-care is a gateway to deep healing and living your best life. How you eat, move and restore yourself is your first line of defense against the wear and tear of living that contributes to illness and premature aging. I coach Breath Mechanics, Breath Recovery, Nutrition and Meditation and I give private and group sessions of TransBreath and Reiki.

You may be concerned about symptoms such as fatigue, chronic pain, inflammation, mood swings, concentration problems, anxiety, digestive disturbances and weight gain. To optimize your human experience and perform at the top of your game requires that you develop routines to reset and sustain yourself. Life is always going to be stressful. Challenges will always arise. Let me introduce you to new routines and practices that you will love and can easily adopt as habits.

Eat

Eat with the seasons and for your own unique needs.  You have a body like no other body. Your body doesn’t just need nourishing food.  It needs nourishing food that is right for you specifically.  Through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine  and Five Element Theory we can discover the food that works to clear your energy blockages AND fits your life. Elevating your approach to eating involves an honest assessment of your current habits and symptoms and then evolves into an exploration of what’s possible and best for you given your lifestyle.  To change how you eat is simple: small adjustments in choosing from a list of therapeutic ingredients and establishing a strong routine. I recommend a series of 3 sessions to build new habits that last.

 

Breath Work - Mechanics

Breath Work is both simple and profoundly transformative.  You can create a powerful foundation for change, manifesting your goals and freeing yourself from pain, through the use of your breath.

You are meant to breathe low in your torso where the wide part of the lung is most effective at transporting oxygen.  This engages your diaphragm and your intercostal muscles. This improves blood flow, relieving headache, low back ache and neck pain. The diaphragm massages the stomach and lower organs, aiding digestion. It also signals the Central Nervous System to shift into rest and restore – a state we need for our mental/emotional state to be in balance.

Learn how to breathe the way your body was meant to breathe – the way you breathed when you were a child. Breath Work begins with learning good mechanics.  Once you breathe again the way you were designed to breathe, you can explore the world of Recovery Breath and TransBreath -transformative breath. Breath Work Mechanics can be a single session with homework or a package of 3 sessions. 

Breath Work - Recovery

Recovery Breathing is the process of learning a simple repetitive practice that you use anytime to transition out of periods of intense stress and fatigue.   Once you know your Recovery Breath, you have a powerful tool to use everyday to rebalance your Central Nervous System and reset yourself a relaxing time with people you love or the next meeting.

Learn a  daily practice of Breath Work  that restores your Central Nervous System and helps you to recover.  Life is always going to be stressful.  The key is to develop skills that support you through it and help you recover from it. Recover so you can engage with the people you love, reset, refocus and be free.

Breath Work - TransBreath

Are you a seeker?  Do you want to explore the psycho-spiritual states of TransBreath?

Sessions are available after a private breathing assessment.

Once you have good breathing mechanics you can experience long guided breathing sessions which shift you to a physical and emotional state that is unique and powerful.  Some use this to build resilience to stress or to gently release trauma and some use it as a gateway to deep meditative states.  TransBreath can be done privately or in small groups.  Music and rhythm are used to pace your breathing and guided visualizations are interjected between rounds of varied breathing styles. This is an unforgettable experience. 

Meditation/Mindfulness

A practice of Meditation/Mindfulness creates more mental space between thoughts and allows you to feel your way into stillness. Meditation can also cultivate a more loving presence and has been found by many to accelerate healing,  be a foundation for self-discovery as well as connection to others.
Mindfulness is the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose and non-judgmentally to the unfolding of moment to moment experience. To train in mindfulness is to establish an embodied presence and learn to see clearly and feel fully the changing flow of sensations, feelings (pleasantness and unpleasantness), emotions and sounds.

If you think you “can’t” meditate; I am your teacher.  I use breath work as a gateway to prepare the body and mind. It is not that you “can’t”, it is that you expectations are not aligned with the true goal of meditation: not to cease thinking but to be present, aware and embodied.  Everyone has the ability to train the mind to become quiet and to experience embodiement.

 

Reiki

Reiki is a system of healing and spiritual development. A Reiki treatment session involves the use of therapeutic touch around and on the 7 Chakra centers. As a method of healthcare, Reiki uses the healing power of loving, supportive, nonsexual physical contact.  Reiki is recognized in hospitals and other healthcare settings for accelerating recovery, reducing stress, pain, side effects of medications, anxiety, and depression.

Reiki helps you achieve body and mind relaxation, peace, ease, clarity, and focus.

Reiki restores balance to your Central Nervous System and settles the body and mind.
